2017 Summer Adult Sunday School Classes

English Sunday School 9:30am–10:45am

E310 (Library) Topic: Radical Together by David Platt
Teachers: Pastor Gary & Sam Yamamura
Target: Christian/Growing/Seeker (College, Career, Singles, Young Couples)

WHAT IS JESUS WORTH TO YOU?”
“It’s easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily… BUT WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO LIVES LIKE THAT? DO YOU?

In “Radical,” David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple–then invites you to “believe “and “obey “what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a “successful” suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus.

Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment — a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

This class requires reading, openness to God, and a book that will cost just $3 but worth $10.

E371 The Theology Program (Prayer room)
Teachers: Elder Don Hong/Elder Al Chen
Target: Christian

This is a theological studies methods class. The study material is presented in DVD format called “The Theology Program.” We are now in the fifth of six modules titled Soteriology (study of the doctrine of salvation and sanctification). TTP’s intent is to teach skills for developing the Christian mind, by helping to construct a solid foundation for thinking through life’s most important issues. Foundational is to establish the reality and nature of truth and then learn that Scriptures properly interpreted is the final arbitrator of truth. Different theologies are presented and this course endeavors a means for which the student can construct a biblical worldview relevant to today’s social culture.
