E312 A Study of Paul’s Missionary and Prison Epistles (Room 139) Paul’s letters of Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians give us a picture of the centrality of Jesus Christ in the early church and so appropriate to us today. The letters are intended to be covered over three quarters beginning with Galatians. We have completed Galatians and will study Ephesians this quarter. The church at Ephesus was most likely started by Priscilla and Aquila, an exceptionally gifted couple who were left there by Paul on his second missionary journey (Acts 18:18-19). This fledgling church was later firmly established by Paul on his third missionary journey (Acts 19) and was pastured by him for some three years. Like Galatians Ephesians contains but six chapters. The first three are theological, emphasizing NT doctrine, whereas the last three chapters are practical and focus on Christian behavior. It is a letter of encouragement and admonition, written by Paul to remind the Ephesian church of its immeasurable blessings in Jesus Christ; and not only to be thankful for those blessings, but also to live in a manner worthy of them.
Teachers: Pauletta & Will Martin/Buil & Mei-Lung Lee Be able to think chronologically through God’s purpose for the nation of Israel and the kingdom of God as revealed in the Major and Minor Prophets. The prophets were God’s special messengers to his people by the power of the Holy Spirit. They were not hysterical babblers, fortune tellers or religious fanatics. Themes that were presented by the prophets: covenant obligations, personal holiness, the Day of the Lord and concept of Messiah. A positive proclamation of the Old Testament Prophets demonstrating the contemporary significance of this revelation will be seen. E386 College Group Series (Room 133-135) Teacher: Ivan Chinn Target: Christians This Sunday school series is targeted towards college students and young adults. Topics will change every semester to provide fresh new looks at God and His Word.
