Biography
Pastor Joe and Shirley Wong

Graduating from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Rev. Joseph Wong and his wife, Shirley, have been serving the Chinese churches on the West coast since 1961. He has been involved in the planting of three churches (Seattle Chinese Alliance, Sunset Chinese Baptist in San Francisco, and Marin Community Christian in San Rafael). In 1978, he co-founded the Fellowship of American Chinese Evangelicals (FACE). The burden and passion for FACE is for the Chinese churches to succeed as multi-cultured churches, meeting the needs of each culture with understanding and harmony. Scripture and examples are used to share insights and support proposals.

Pastor Joe is a father of four daughters, and grandfather of six. He enjoys being with people and has a casual, often humorous way of conversation. His interests are quite varied, including music, sports, travel and keeping company with his Mac computer.

His passion is to guide Christians in the ways of God through a careful analysis of God's Word, summed up as, Truth-based Living. He describes his theological position as a conservative evangelical. Whatever the Scripture affirms, he affirms. He also serves as a consultant and mentor, sharing from his experiences and insights with Christian leaders.

Accompanying him is Shirley, a professional educator, who has a burden to establish a Christian perspective for education. She has mentored and discipled women, seeking to equip them for leadership, to enable them to reach their potential, and to establish a vision for serving the Lord.
